Alliance Statement Re: US-EU Trade Meeting

“Automakers are pleased to see Ambassador Lighthizer and his USTR team in Brussels this week discussing a transatlantic trade deal’s scope with the European Commission. This signals increased momentum since July’s announcement of the pursuit of a U.S.-EU bilateral trade agreement.

“Automakers – and many others – agree that consumers and the economy win when trade barriers are lowered. A fair and free bilateral agreement is the best path forward to achieving a level playing field on both sides of the Atlantic, rather than threatening to raise auto tariffs under Section 232.”
