Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers Statement on USMCA Signing

We are pleased the U.S., Canada and Mexico have signed this important trilateral agreement and we look forward to reviewing the final text.  We remain concerned that the existing steel and aluminum tariffs, threat of Section 232 tariffs on imported autos and auto parts and additional tariffs currently imposed on our other global trading partners could completely eliminate any benefits derived from the new USMCA agreement and damage the competitiveness of the U.S.-based auto industry.  We urge the Administration to pursue opportunities to lower trade barriers to better advance our shared goal of growing U.S. manufacturing and jobs.
