Mitch Bainwol, President and CEO of the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, today announced his resignation from the organization so he could assume the position of Chief Government Relations Officer at the Ford Motor Company. The 12 automakers comprising the Alliance said they will announce their leadership plans in the near future.
Statement Attributable to Mitch Bainwol:
“It’s been a wonderful ride leading the Alliance during this remarkably dynamic time. During my almost eight-year tenure, the industry has faced profound technological disruption. Yet, by forging policies that smartly facilitate stronger fuel economy and new models of mobility, Alliance members have been agents of this change. Today, automakers are building ever safer, cleaner, energy-efficient autos, while at the same time supporting millions of auto jobs nationwide. As I pivot to my exciting new role with Ford, I look forward to working with my new colleagues and many friends throughout the industry on our shared mission.”
Statement Attributable to Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers Executive Committee:
“Alliance members thank Mitch Bainwol for his tireless work advocating for our companies and the broader interests of mobility. The industry is far stronger today than we were in 2011 when Mitch joined the association. He has built a fantastic team and the Alliance is well positioned to continue addressing the complex issues facing our critical sector. We wish him well.”
